This course is the first of two courses that focus on adult nursing, emphasizing the care of adults with health alterations. In this course, students will explore the nursing care of patients experiencing alterations in the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and gastrointestinal systems. Additionally, the course covers essential concepts in pain management and perioperative nursing management, equipping students with the skills needed to provide comprehensive care during surgical and pain-related interventions.

Students will learn to apply the nursing process, and develop holistic care plans addressing the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.  The subsequent course, Adult Health Nursing 2, will cover the remaining body systems and health conditions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of adult nursing. Together, these two courses provide a solid foundation for managing the complex needs of adult patients in a variety of healthcare settings.

A variety of teaching methods will be employed to enhance learning and engagement, including interactive lectures, case-based scenarios, group discussions, and independent readings utilizing academic databases.
